The 28th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards was held on 27th February, and as expected, the star-studded event was a sight to behold. Celebrities – both from the small and the big screen – graced the red carpet with their glorious presence.

And just like every year, the ceremony fueled our fashion inspiration.

From Selena Gomez’s puffy-sleeved Oscar de la Renta gown to Emilia Jones’ sheer embellished Givenchy Haute Couture, we couldn’t keep our eyes away from our Instagram feeds. 😍

While we could go on and on about the iconic looks, one trend that immediately caught our attention was the use of hair accessories. A staple of the 90s, hair adornments have seemingly made a comeback – and for all the right reasons.

With so many events to attend, you’ll eventually run out of new ideas to don a new hairdo, which is where hair accessories come in. They allow you to spruce up your appearance while still staying up to date with the latest fashion trends.

As for which hair adornments to purchase, there’s no reason to get fru-straight-ed, we’ve got you covered.

In this blog, we’ll be talking about a few super chic hair accessories you can wear to look red carpet-ready.

1.Scarves

An accessory as old as time, women have worn scarves for fashion and religious purposes for centuries. And if Gigi Hadid-led 2021 Versace fall show was any indicator, the popularity of scarves is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.
And no, contrary to popular belief, scarves are not something only a grandma would wear. Part of what makes them so great is their versatility.
Also, since they come in uncountable prints, scarves can be just what you’re looking for to add some pizzazz to complement your ensemble. 🌟
Pro Tip: Tie your hair up in a knot and wrap the base with a scarf for a simple yet effective look.

2.Hair Clips
We know you probably have hundreds of hair clips lying in your drawer that were last used when you went to your high school prom. Well, it’s time to take them out.
Sometimes, you need to keep things grounded, like when attending a low-key yet glamorous event. Since headbands and scarves would look a bit too extra for such occasions, it’s best to choose hair clips.
The perfect representation of less is more, wearing hair clips is an excellent idea when going for a subtle look.
Pro Tip: Part your hair at one side and place the hair clips just above your ear.

3.Bows
Ask any woman about hair bows, and she’ll reply, ‘What? That thing teenagers and little girls wear?’
Sorry to burst your bubble, but no, regardless of your age, you can wear the heck out of a hairbow. 🎀
If that weren’t the case, the likes of A-list celebrities – Emma Stone and Margot Robbie – wouldn’t have been spotted wearing hairbows, that too on award functions.
In fact, hair bows are so in right now that not even the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, could stop herself from wearing them.
Equal parts convenient, girly, and sophisticated – hairbows are a worthy addition to your favorite hair accessories.
Pro Tip: Make a ponytail or a braid and use a hairbow to tie your hair.

4.Pearls
‘A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls.’
– Coco Chanel
This quote by the most prolific fashion icon of all time may be centuries old, but its essence is still as fresh as ever. That’s because pearls are a symbol of elegance and grace, whether you wear them around your neck or on your head.
The recent few years have witnessed an increase in pearl hairpins and bobby pins. We especially love the latter because they give the illusion that your hair is actually studded with pearls.
And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to look like a queen of some mythical land? 👸🏻
Pro Tip: Choose a half-up hairstyle and place an oversized pearl hair clip there.

5.Scrunchies
What goes around comes around.
How long has it been since you saw, let alone wore a scrunchie?
We’re going to assume your answer is kindergarten. Well, get ready to see a lot of it again.
With so many fashion trends making a comeback, it was only a matter of time before scrunchies made their way into mainstream style.
And lo and behold, Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o was seen matching her Duro Olowu dress with a scrunchie at Elle’s Women in Hollywood event a few years ago.
As Nyong’o proved, scrunchies are a simple but memorable touch to take your ensemble on another level.
